The 2020 Toyota 86 proceed with minor change for this year, The 86 still with its three trim levels: Base, 86 Hakone Edition, and 86 GT. This 2020 Toyota 86 provides exciting rear-drive performance for a price that most enthusiasts can afford. While other value-minded alternatives exist, they don’t offer the same combination of athleticism and practicality that Toyota does.
Exterior & Interior Style Design
The new 2020 86 is simply gorgeous outside, with a long hood, short trunk, and curvaceous wheel arches. At the front, LED headlights and DRLs give it an aggressive, shark-like appearance, with the rear also featuring LED lighting but in a more rounded style. A twin-exit exhaust sits within a fake diffuser, while all but the base model gain a rear spoiler and LED fog lights too.
The standard wheel size is 17 inches, with 18s available on the GT as standard. The Hakone Edition is set apart by its bronze wheels and unique choice of paint. The upper pair also receive front foglights and a rear decklid spoiler. Toyota adds a new color for the 2020 86 version, called Pavement, that makes this 2020 86 edition have 8 exterior colors: Raven, Steel, Ablaze, Neptune, Oceanic, Halo, Pavement, and Hakone Green.
For the interior, the new 2020 86 is a comfortable fit for the driver and front-seat passenger. The driving position is nearly perfect, placing the driver square to the steering wheel with the pedals a perfect distance away from the well-bolstered, supportive seat. Material quality and fit and finish inside the 86 are good for a low-volume car at this price, but the mechanically identical Subaru BRZ spoils with richer duds and more features. We wouldn’t dare declare the 86’s cargo space and storage uncompromised. However, compared with the highly impractical Miata and 124 Spider, the roomier Toyota coupe is a veritable minivan. Fold-down rear seats and a generous trunk pass-through give the 86 a semblance of IKEAbility.
Navigation & Infotainment
All 2020 86 Trim has a 7.0-inch touchscreen system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a USB port. We wish there were more hard-button shortcuts to key menus. Users who find themselves in a specific menu such as audio or navigation must push an onscreen “back” button to reach a home menu that displays pathways to other menus.
2020 Toyota 86 Engine System
All three trims of the 2020 Toyota 86 are powered by the same 2.0-liter boxer four-pot, with either a close-ratio six-speed manual or a shiftable automatic with the same number of cogs. Models equipped with the manual transmission have a maximum of 205 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque, but the autos are restricted slightly and see both figures drop by five. With a relatively light body and no forced induction to help motivate the 86 (at least until the boosted replacement comes in the new decade), the 86 is not much of a drag racer. It manages the sprint from 0 to 60 mph in around 6.2 seconds in some independent tests and has a top speed of 145 mph. While this may seem paltry compared to just about anything with performance ambitions, the 86 is all about the corners. Only available as a rear-wheel-drive model, the small sports car is designed to be easy to manage and fun to abuse, not scary to take to work, and too loud to start before the birds have stopped chirping.

As the sport sedan comes out with three trim, the MSRP is different for each of them. The starting price for the base 2020 86 model is $27,060 while the MSRP for 2020 86 Hakone Edition is $29,870, and the price for the 86 GT Version is $29,910.
